Kelp / European Pet Pharmacy
The Kelp food supplement is made from bladderwrack (seaweed), the most nutritious of all seaweeds.
Kelp is rich in vitamins B1, B2, B3, B12 and also C and E. It also contains calcium, copper, iron, lithium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, selenium, silicon, sulfur, zinc, chromium, cobalt, manganese, niacin, riboflavin, and salt.
Kelp is particularly rich in iodine, making it an excellent supplement for supporting and maintaining a strong glandular system, especially for the pituitary, adrenal, and thyroid glands. This is especially true for animals suffering from hypothyroidism, as one of iodine's functions is to stimulate the thyroid gland.
This super algae also plays a role in the beauty of the coat and skin. The proteins contained in Kelp are highly bioavailable, allowing the body to efficiently assimilate amino acids, which helps them contribute optimally to tissue repair.
Overweight animals can benefit from Kelp to help them control their weight, as iodine stimulates the thyroid gland, which in turn regulates body metabolism. Better metabolism helps reduce cholesterol and accelerate weight loss in overweight dogs and cats.
A study also found that Kelp could help repel fleas on dogs and cats after 3 weeks of Kelp consumption.
Finally, by giving Kelp, you contribute to better general health for your pet due to the improvement of glandular activities, which can be very beneficial for elderly or convalescent animals whose glandular and immune functions are compromised.
Kelp is suitable for animals over 12 months old and is also widely used for show animals that need pigmentation in their mouth and nose.
Warning: Do not give to dogs with hyperthyroid disorders
It is always advisable to consult a veterinarian before giving a food supplement.
